Justin Bieber fans urged to cut themselves to stop him from smoking weed.
Justin Bieber fans urged to cut themselves to stop him from smoking weed. This Belieber madness must cease Western civilisation hit a new low yesterday when some 4 chan users decided to see just how much they could mess with the minds of Justin Bieber fans. The internet trolls took inspiration from an earlier stunt whereby a wise guy tweeted that Justin had cancer and that Beliebers should cut off their hair in sympathy. Upping the ante, 4chan seized upon the story that Bieber had been caught smoking weed and suggested that teenagers take drastic action to get him to quit. To quote Gawker: Operation Cut For Bieber launched this morning with a hashtag on Twitter that proved so successful, it was trending nationwide within hours … "You stop using drugs and well stop cutting. You make this world meaningless and weve lost hope," tweeted @brittanyscrapma, one of several dummy accounts … The hashtags #cutforbieber and #cuttingforbieber quickly amassed dozens of photos from teens and tweens who claim to have slashed their wrists and forearms over Biebers drug use, but it remains unclear how many of the photos are authentic, and how many have been seeded by 4chan users. Regardless, the fact that the hashtags are trending at all is disturbing enough. Predictably, BuzzFeed does us the courtesy of publishing some of those "disturbing photos" on the shady pretext of letting us decide for ourselves how authentic they are. Are they real, are they fake? Who cares? Theyre sick <b>…<b>

Australia removes cigarette branding from packets
At tobacconists in Sydney, Australia, the rows of cigarette packets look more disturbing than ever. The much larger health warnings and pictures showing the deadly effects of smoking are part of a new packaging law that comes into effect on Saturday. All tobacco products must now be sold in drab, olive-brown packets with the brands logo removed. The name will be printed in an identical, small font. The government hopes the new packs will deter young people from taking up the habit as the glamour associated with smoking is removed. But not everyone is convinced. Smoker Victor El Hage said: "The packages? To me they are just pictures you can find in any place. They mean nothing to me. Honestly, Im actually trying to stop smoking but the truth is, the only reason Im try to stop is (for) my little girl." Tobacco manufacturers have lobbied hard against the new law. Theyre worried that other countries will follow Australias example. So far theres only experimental research to suggest that the new packaging will work. But Australias Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek is determined to change perceptions among Australias estimated 3.4 million smokers. "It is a legal product but it is the only legal product that if taken as recommended by its maker is likely to kill half of its regular users. If we knew that when tobacco was made legal or was fire introduced into common usage, I dont think it would be a legal product today," she said.
Australia’s Smoking Ad Ban
UK Eyes Ozs Tough Anti-Smoking Laws Australia introduces new laws which ban advertising on cigarette packets, as the British government watches the impact. The British Government is considering following Australias lead by stripping all branding and logos from tobacco packaging. From today, Australia becomes the first country in the world to put all tobacco products in standardised packs which are a drab olive colour and have the manufacturers brand in a simple uniform font. The packs are covered in graphic health warnings portraying dying cancer sufferers, diseased feet and ill babies. The law bans the use of logos, brand imagery, symbols, other images, colours and promotional text. Australias plain packaging laws are a potential watershed for the global industry, which serves one billion regular smokers, according to World Health Organisation statistics. Australias government says the aim is to deter young people from smoking by stripping the habit of glamour. It is relying on studies showing that if people have not started smoking by the age of 26, there is a 99% chance they will never take it up. The potential hitch, experts say, is the popularity of social media amongst the very demographic the plan is targeting. After a series of Australian laws banning TV advertising and sports sponsorship and requiring most sellers to hide cigarettes from view, online is the final frontier for tobacco marketing. "If you are a tobacco marketer and youve only got this small <b>…<b>
