TOPVOTE 2013 Ernesto Maceda: On Sin Tax [11]

[TOPVOTE 2013] The 2013 Senatorial Elections Information Campaign of the UP School of Economics Student Council. ———- 11 On Sin Tax Well, in principle I agree with it. There are other countries that impose higher taxes on taxes on cigarette and liquor and after all, it is a luxury, its a vice to others. And if we can collate additional taxes from it, why not? Although, again, we have to wait a 3 or 4 years before we find out whether what is suppose to be collected additionally will materialize because it depends on how many people will stop smoking and how many people will stop drinking. Because if many people will stop smoking and stop drinking, it accomplishes its purpose health wise, but then you dont collect the taxes that youre suppose to collect. ———- [Facebook] fb.com [Twitter] @UPSESC (twitter.com [Email] [email protected] [Subscribe] www.youtube.com ©UPSE Student Council 2012-13
